Features: Soft, warm and lightweight, the Dress Circle Horsewear Hooded Sherpa Rug replaces the warmth of several rugs and is perfect for clipped horses as the whole face and belly are kept warm. It has a Sherpa outer with polar fleece lining, for added warmth and a longer life. Designed to mould to your horse’s body shape like a second skin, the rug repels water and wicks away moisture.
Rugging up with the Hooded Sherpa in autumn will help to keep the coat sleek and shiny, avoiding the need to clip, and it will dry a bathed horse more quickly during colder months.
Rugging up with it in January will encourage the winter hair to shed so your horse has a beautiful gleaming summer coat growing through early, ready for the show season.
Recommended for stable use only, the Hooded Sherpa offers a tailored fit, full length front zip, lined mane area, large eye and ear holes, heavy duty Velcro fastenings, a large belly strap, fully fitted tail flap and no leg straps.
It’s also machine washable, quick drying and can be tumble dried on a low heat.
Sizes: XS (4ft 9in-5 ft), S (5 ft 3in-5 ft 6in), M (5 ft 9in-6 ft), L (6 ft 3in-6 ft 6in), XL (6 ft 9in-7 ft). Limited stock in some sizes.

Tester: Allison Lowther and her 12-year-old 16.3hh Thoroughbred gelding, Jester

What’s great?

Alison says: “This is a really useful rug resembling a babygrow for horses. Jester feels the cold and wears it in the winter for 24 hours a day under his stable or turnout rug. It’s made of a soft, stretchy, Sherpa fleece that covers all his extremities. It fits snugly, but the instructions do say it needs to fit like a second skin. There’s a Velcro fastening belly flap that covers the chest area, which also extends to the chest, giving extra protection, and a deep wide tail flap that protects the whole of his quarters. The eye and ear holes are large and well placed and the rug only rubbed Jester’s mane a tiny bit even with a rug and hood on top.
“He’s always warm when wearing it and has no need for lots of extra rugs when it’s cold, other than a stable or turnout rug. Any moisture is wicked away. Overall, I loved this rug. It has kept Jester’s coat nice and shiny and prevented the growth of unsightly cat hairs on his belly.”

What’s not so great?

Alison says: “It’s tricky to put on at first as there’s lots of material to handle, but once mastered it becomes easy.”
