What’s great?

Kate says: “I started coveting this rug after buying Horseware’s Rhino Plus stable rug. I loved the freedom the V-front closure system gave my horse over his shoulders – Cairo’s not particularly big-chested, but he has pink skin and suffers from rug rubs.
“I’d never spent so much on a rug – around £220 – but I’d heard good things from people who owned one, so I decided to splash out. As I’d expected, the chest closure system was great – my horse had no rug rubs and could happily graze and move while wearing it. He has never ripped it and the outer seems very tough.
The chest fastenings are easy to do up with cold or gloved hands and I liked the fact that the liner has its own tail flap. After a year of use, none of the fastenings have rusted or tarnished. My rug has a 300g liner, but Horseware has launched a wider range, from 100g up to 400.”

What’s not so great?

Kate says: “In bad weather the liner did get wet, but an overnight hang on a rug rack dried it out.
“Cairo doesn’t have a very thick neck, and all neck covers are a gappy fit on him. This was no different, and wind and rain could get through. The neck cover design meant there was a gap at the top of his chest/bottom of his neck – a deeper fit to cover this area would be ideal. I’d also have liked to choose from a range of colours.”

I am a huge fan of rambos as they are so durable and such a great fit for my TB type. The duo is top quality as you would expect, very durable and waterproof nylon outer, good quality fittings and excellent fit. The interchangable liners make this a very versatile rug although I did find it necessary to have second turnout rugs for when the duo needed to dry out after heavy rain. Changing the liners is very straight forward. Having the separate liner does make the rug more combersome to handle especially if you have a big horse. I found little value in being able to wash the outer at home as my domestic washer did not clean it properly even with correct products. A huge plus for rambos is there durability I had my first wug for 10 winters and then sold it on ebay for £50 so they are a great investment!

I love it :-)its like 4 rugs in one, lightweight turnout, middle weight, heavy weight, and if you put a surcingle around the under rug it could be used as a stable rug. Only thing is, me and my friend have found the necks to be very tight, and a bit restrictive, also why is there a gap between rug and neck for there chest to get wet? My rug soaked through once but dried out fairly quickly and it was torrential rain all night. BUt an excellent rug, expensive at first but as its so versatile cheaper then 3 rugs in the long run

I bought this rug almost 2 years ago and have found it to be the best turnout rug I have ever purchased. It is a great fit for my horse and it dries very quickly unlike other turnout rugs I have had in the past. I love the idea of the liners and my horse has always came in from the field dry and warm. I would highly recommend this rug to anyone.

i have to say i have had this rug for about a year now and it is excellent. I use it on my 14.2hh welsh cob and my 15.3hh tb, and it fits them both really well. it is really waterproof and durable, and we hae been able to wash the inner in the washing machine at home. I am really impressed with this rug.
