I've been using my Shires mane thinning knife for as long as I can remember! I use it to tidy stray long hairs after pulling, or to thin and shorten the mane of horses that dislike having their manes pulled. The blade remains sharp after many, many years of use. It takes a little practice to aquire the desired results, but once you've mastered it, you'll wonder how you ever did without one.
It is an essential part of my grooming kit.
