These hand-operated trimmers look quite dated in their design and I did wonder how effective they would be. I didn’t find them the easiest to use – operating them gives your hand quite a work-out and I couldn’t use them for long periods of time before my hand got tired! On the plus side, there’s no motor noise or vibration, which makes them an option if your horse isn’t good with motorised trimmers. You won’t get your trimming done quickly with these, which I found quite frustrating, and they aren’t the easiest to use in fiddly areas such as under the jaw, but they are a good option to have tohand for any last minute tidying up.
