Not snakes this time, but a toad

When I took the cover off the haylage this morning, this is what I found -  didn't have my camera with me and my phone doesn't do good photos, so the colour and definition are really awful, but you get the general idea.

He seemed quite sleepy and very slow, and it was only when I started to gently move things to fill a haynet he eventually hopped away.

That story reminds me of a hilarious thing that happened in our house last spring.  I had been out at the dustbin around dusk and had left the back door open for a couple of minutes.  My husband's working boots were in the utility near the door and in the morning he put them on to go into the yard only to find he had something jammed in the toe, he had dropped money the night before so thought maybe some had landed inside the boot, he put out his hand and tipped the boot up expecting to catch a coin only for a small frog to land there instead!  He didn't half yelp in surprise, the poor thing landed on the ground and hopped off ribbiting!  A couple of nights later another one actually got in to the house and was leaping around the living room with us shrieking and chasing after it with an empty paint tray and a magazine trying to scoop it up and put it outside - it took half an hour and was better exercise than zumba!
