Young Horse Starting

My 4yo is currently away for starting with Dave Stuart, I am really looking forward to him coming home and me being able to ride him myself.

It was a tough decision to send him away for this, as I have backed my previous youngsters myself. I just am so busy at work and have to rely on help from my husband (when he just wants to go play golf!

I am thinking that the experience my horse will get with Dave (who has backed hundreds of horses) will be better than me doing it, but will feel very strange then just getting on him and riding when he comes home rather than all the long reining and leaning over stuff.

For those of you who have done it, what are your best tips for a freshly backed horse when it comes home? Is it any different to when you have done it yourself?

Dogs have owners, cats have staff.
