So, hes now 15 months and 15 hands!
Getting on really well, feel like he trusts me more now.
He had the dentist out ( i just wanted him checked over) and he was perfect didnt play up at all although i wasnt there, my yard manager did it.. Also got the farrier out and this time was perfect, after last time i wasnt having the same hour long playing up etc, think hes realised this farrier wont take any rubbish either and just gets on with it now.
We've done umbrella training, can now lead him round the yard as normal with it, dragged plastic chairs round with him and set up a chair obstacle course,so hed knock into them etc and realise nothing bad was going to happen, we've covered bikes, lead him and pushed the bike by the side of him (as i genuinely cant ride them) and got my yard manager to ride round him on it, didnt bat an eyelid.
We've done poles in the school, still cautious but gets better every time, sniffed jump blocks, had them all out just so he sees them. took him in the jump paddock to see all the jumps set up, with bright coloured poles and fillers and nothing...
he's had a few walks in the woods, with the xc course jumps out the back and just looked, no spooking etc, ive ordered him a bridle so we can bit him so i can go for more walks and have more control just incase (as the woods are huge and i dont want to risk anything?), but its not arrived yet so thats the next thing.
Ive bought him some brushing boots, just so i can get him used to them on his legs, im sure he wont be fussed at all, but its another thing to cover all the same.
Im also going to do the whole tarpaulin thing, walking over it, just another trust exercise at some point...
And re start his lorry loading, just so its a regular thing and its no issue, even though he was fine, i want to keep it up so it dosnt get 'forgotten'.
Ive also done the whole 'whip over the body thing'so hes used to strange things over him, also helps with the measuring stick!!
ive also 'loose schooled' him.. well, more like taken him in the arena to have a mooch, as most his training is done under the barn at the moment as not had a need to go in the school. He seems to love it, has a good blast round. Still follows me round the arena and will walk on when i say etc, dont want to do too much obviously, but it all helps i figuire.
Thats all i can think of at the moment! i know its a long post, but it has been a while!
Eitherway, hes gorgeous and i think he's not doing too bad for 15 months!
