Advise wanted please :)

Bit of a random one here, but when i ride i lock my sholders which makes me tilt forwards - i never used to do it but have now got into this habit and it needs to go!
Any exercises, hints and advice welcome!

Please note i do have lessons but its hard to imagine someone shouting at me when im riding on my own

 hey :)

i know this problem, i do the same. what i do when i feel i lock my shoulders is i ride some circles or any curved figures i can think of and i change the rein more often! this kinda activates the upper part of my body (balance...) when you do a trot, think of sitting in a rocking chair and make sure your hips/pelvis are nice and 'soft' - if you know what i mean! this should help you not to tilt forward and also to relax your shoulders a little bit. sometimes when i feel them getting too tense i stop and do little circles with my shoulders to relax them a little! it also helps me if i imagine someone gently pressing my shoulders down, so i don't lock or tense them!

i hope that at least some of this will help you!

is it only your shoulders or do you feel tension anywhere else, like knees or wrists?

advice

I do this when I've been riding in a body protector a lot. I seem to mold to it's shape rather than the other way around! A couple of sessions without it usualy sorts me out.
