Havent done showing for ages, my daughter is taking a friend's horse into a showing class at the weekend for veteran, she is riding a 24 year old TB - the owner is putting the horse in black tack with a decorative brow band.

Now, as daughter is 16, I would presume it is still the same rules for jodphur boots and clips rather than tall boots. But, is it canary yellow jodphurs or cream and should she wear a blue showing jacket with velvet colour or, hacking jacket? Can she wear brown jodphur boots (which she already has) or do I have to buy some black ones as the tack is black. Any help would be great as I am running out of time.

Hi, I've recently been dragged around a few shows by my twelve year old daughter, so have been having a good look at what they're all wearing for the classes and I would say that the teenagers are mostly all wearing canary jods although my daughter prefers a cream colour which is still ok.  Brown jodphur boots are fine as is oxblood or black and I would go more for the hacking jacket as this is what they all seem to be wearing although their were a few with navy or black jackets but the hacking jackets definatley more popular. Hope this helps.

This a ridden 16.2 TB in a veteran class and my daughter is 16 so, its a sort of inbetween age.

The problem I have is, I have a blue showing jacket with velvet colour but, not a tweed and as we are only doing it for fun for a friend, dont want to buy one. We have yellow and cream jopdhurs but, can she wear yellow with a blue show jacket or, is that for tweed jackets only, and should she stick to the cream ones and can she wear a show jacket for a showing class for a TB - I dont want to make big mistakes but, also dont want to spend any money.

 Go with the blue jacket and velvet as it's a veteran class so it's so strict on dress. With her age I'd go with the brown jodphurs boots and which ever jodhs look nicest with the jacket. If poss find a tie which has one of the colours of the browband if it goes with the jacket as makes for a nice touch. Think she'll look just fine and like you say theres no point in going out buying things! Good luck hope it goes well!

The blue showing jacket is fine thats what my daughter wears, she wears with cream jodphurs which I think look nicer and are perfectly fine for showing just that the canary are more popular but both colours are ok. I think a navy show jacket will be fine for a TB in a veteran class.  The last show I went to a couple of the younger women / older teenagers were in navy show jackets for classes.

Thanks for all your advice/help chaps - unfortunately, after sorting out all the showing gear yesterday, I have been advised by the owner of the horse that he is lame and so, we wont be going. Such a shame. We are unable to do much at the moment, my daughter's ex racehorse TB is going through the barefoot transition (see my link ......... ) it goes on and on LOL - so, we cant go out and compete.

richarderp - the show was to be this Saturday nr Westerfield, Nr Ipswich.

Nevermind.

 oohh tatti where are you based as I usually go to the westerfield shows being near Ipswich :) it's such a small world lol!

I am in Sudbury, Suffolk so, not far from Ipswich, the show was due to be this Saturday.
