Re: Best tack cleaning stuff!!

There does not seem to be much difference between them, Lincoln seems to be a little better, but for nasty grease I use washing up liquid, then after saddle soap and oil this system has kept my tack going for well over 24 years and being used on my 3rd Horse.

Gypsy Gold does not chink & glitter. It gleams in the sun and neighs in the dark.Tonka & Lara my beautiful horses RIP, Nelson,Chloe & Kitty the cats.

Belvoir leather soap cleaner nice and simple and smells luvly too, daughter used Naf leather soap the other day when she helped clean all the school horses tack at the stables and said it was no good at all.

Hi, always used Belvoir saddle soap and for really mucky bits, ie covered in mud and the like, I would pop a squidge of washing up liquid in a bucket of warm water and dunk it in.  For stirrup irons and bits, I pop them in water with a bit of salt as gets them up really clean the stainless steel stuff.  I wouldn't though clean my tack more than once a week really.  Although I did use to use the Belvoir spray cleaner and the separate conditioner too for a quick wipe down after riding.  Have also used the Jeffries tack conditioner in a tub, a little goes a very long way!

I've used many over the years, but I  now stick to Horseman's Onestep.  It can be put on with a dry or slightly damp cloth (I use the kind you wash your dishes with) and it removes dirt, damp mould, sweat the lot, and conditions as it goes.  It leaves your leather very supple and I wouldn't use anything else now.  Stubben Hammol is also very good if you just want to moisturise.
