Yay!!! Can't really believe it, but all mine have lost weight !!

I started out weighing all 4 early in May, and actually wrote down weights on a little chart, the first time I've done it all properly, then weighed again in the middle of June and they'd lost a little but not significantly, and it could have been just pulling the tape tighter, lol.

But weighed them again this morning and yes, they've all gone down. I did think Monty looked a bit slimmer, but the others didn't look much different tbh, although Fate has lost the most, going down 2 of the little markers on the tape.

Monty is now pretty much at an ideal weight, he's been gradually reducing since we had him 18 months or so ago, and I'd like to keep him like it as he has laminitis history, Fate and Captain always have been on the tubby side before we had them, they'll have been with us a year come November and I'm happy they're gradually losing as well.

The only slight worry is Bracken, as she does lose weight more easily in the winter now she's getting on, but she's the only one who gets any real feed, and she gets a bit of extra grass that the others don't have, so I think she'll be fine with a bit more feeding up over the next few months.

So feeling quite chuffed !!

Well done, I wish i could say the same for my lot.  I usually muzzle Tommy but we had awful trouble with it rubbing at the begining of summer so we've been trying the in during the day out at night routine.  He is fat as a pig!!!  Yesterday i spent the afternoon making sheepskin tubes to put on the muzzle so he went back out with it on last night.  No rubs today when he came in so fingers crossed it will sort him out.

As for the mini's they are little puddings too, star managed to loose his muzzle and i don't seem to be able to find it in my heart to put a muzzle on one without the other.

Well done Sue !! That's great news, sounds as though they had a nice steady weight loss which is really good, I'm so glad that Monty is doing well and reducing his risk of laminitis, keep up the good work, take care Lyn XX

Well done, especially over the summer when the horses (mine anyway) normally struggle just to not get fat. Actually I've found that feeding soaked hay and keeping them on fairly bare paddocks works better than just restricting their grass, as they still therefore get their bulk without the calories.

That's very organised, keeping a chart, lol!

Best wishes, Jen

That's what we do as well, not that much grass and a couple of hay nets between them scattered around so they have to walk for it.

And it's the first time I've ever been organised enough to keep a record, lol !!
