 I'm at my whits end this is the most distressing thing that's ever happened to me and my pony I could ever imagine there are some mentally sick people out there! Basically she's been sexually abused by a man that's already been arrested and released on bail! I believe he may have done it 3 times my main problem being she had a foal 3 weeks ago so they were in the field shelter at night with doors on like a stable! The field I'm on is very private and quiet being the perfect spot for something like this to happen I've left different traps to see if he's been back and he has tonight I've had enough and can't put them in the shelter again for him to come along and help himself I've left them out first night the foal has been out all night as we have electric fencing which I know isn't ideal for foals but I've had to I just can't leave her open to the situation again what should I do now?

If the character is out on bail report to police also if possible get photo's cctv etc or get some of your friends with a couple of handy house bricks warning don't get your thumbs caught as it hurts like hell. The problem instead of sorting him out and throwing the key away he will just possibly get a smack on the wrist, suggest you make yourself the biggest pain in the backside you can, local councillor, your MP, the local newspapers, and keep on at the police. It is a shame that your horse has not a nasty temper especially as it has a foal to protect, my horse would really make a mess of that pervert  or kill him, in fact every horse I have owned would have done that.

I'm not sure I want to know the answer to this, but how on earth did you discover that she's being abused?  Do you have CCTV?

I think Kevin's right, you must report this pervert and if the police won't do anything, go to the papers and charities like the RSPCA.

If you have a couple of big burly mates, I would lay in wait for him in the stable and scare him off but obviously don't do this on your own!

One other thought - do you know anybody with a vicious horse?  Perhaps you could switch fields for the night?  If you live near Exeter, you can borrow Munchie - any one who tried to do that to him would be singing soprano for the rest of his life!  He's not vicious in day to day handling but he's not great with men.

Please keep us posted, I hope you and your mare are not too traumatised.

 No I don't have CCTV but he's been arrested 2 weeks prior for doin the same thing I spotted a man acting suspicious around the field but thought nothing of it as I knew nothing about this first time I noticed was her rug was up her back she wanted out of the stable and my stable doors wasn't tied properly it's a make shift stable as foal was a suprise its 2 large sheets of wood and there tied together for 3 days it was like this I mentioned it to a friend down the road she had also ha the same problem I just want him caught or hurt!

 Hate to say it but unless you've seen it with your own eyes you have no proof of this man doing what you say he is doing. Just because your mare had her rug up her back means nothing, horses roll, run around and buck and getting their rug out of place is a normal thing. Just because someone was hanging around doesn't mean he's doing that, he could be out walking or looking for something to pinch! If you are serious I'd get some good quality CCTV or sit and wait one night, out of view, with a few other people and see what happens. Please keep us posted.

Horses do dislodge their own rugs when they roll or rub. Hopefully you have nothing to worry about.

 She did have marks on her rug also an I know someone's been in because he's cut the barbed wire down I'm going to watch police have installed cameras just hope he doesn't spot them

Something has happened like this 15 minutes away from where i live but someone actually caught photos of him doing something strange with more than one horse! The police were informed and didnt turn up until 3 days later. They are still trying to find the guy, Have a look on The citizen - blackburn you should find the read up about it on there.

Have you had any footage from the new CCTV that has been set up?

Do you say night and love you to your horse when leaving? I do?
