Like the title says how often do you ride?

What is your riding routine ? Do you vary what you do each time? e.g Mon dressage , Tues rest, Wed Hack , Thurs Rest, Fri Jumping ,Sat Hack, Sun, Jumping

Also does anyone have a fitness routine for themselves to get fit? If so what exercises do you do?

Sorry load of questions LOL Thanks :D

I tend to school during the week and hack over the weekend.

In schooling i tend to do about half an hour, lots of walk trot transitions, then some canter work, then 10 minutes heavy work, i.e down on the bit, engaging hind quaters (my boy is very lazy, so needs to be nice and warmed up to work properly lol), then cool down on a long rein.

I have one lesson a week where we do half an hour schooling then half an hour jumping.

He has roughly one day off a week, depending on weather!

I dont exercise myself, I should really as I am so unfit, but I've found poo picking and mucking out a stable is enough for me!

I used to ride everyday with my old horse Tonka, then Lara, both being kept at home, now Sabrina kept at livery and a new partnership as well plus the weather not good, but in hand work, then walk, then trot getting her slowly warmed up, then jumping occasionally but give some hacks, making sure Sabrina is kept engaged and loving her work, have also changed her tack which seems to help. Will do more than a couple of days a week if weather gets better and if the indoor school which is promised that would be fantastic.

this is guna sound really OCD lol monday-day off (pm) tuesday-hack (am) wednesday- lunge with pessoa (pm) thursday- jump (am) friday-school and usually hack or sometimes school or day off over the weekends...i just find that this fits in with my schedule pretty well and work times so tend to stick to it, and it seems to keep my horse fit and healthy and lameness free and as for myself stable work (lol-its  hard work) and i go jogging with my dogs, but thats really for the dogs benefit :)

varies on the week, how stressful work is ect. also i dont have a school where i ride, just a field, so at the moment it is water logged so no schooling :( i have 2 horses so tend to take turns, but on a good week ride them each 5 times a week, mostly hacking, but vary the type of hack, fast work or gentle walk. in the winter it is less because of the day light, but tend to hack one and then school/ jump the other afterwoods.

in terms of my own fittness, i have quite an active job as a support assistant at a special needs school, so always on my feet, go swimming twice a week with the kids. also i walk the dog and go jogging, but no structured fitness regime!

my horses are my medicine, without them im even more crazy!

I really like to ride 5 days per week, atm it's mostly hacking as we don't have an arena or flat paddock to school on. I also enjoy doing some in hand work once per week. As for me I have a physical job working on a plant nursery with plenty of walking and lifting etc so too kanckered for anything else lol !

Varies from week to week, but she only gets one day off and most of the time she's super fit.  We hack a lot to keep her fresh and enjoying life, fairly fast hacks lots of canter/gallop.  Sometimes I school on the hack and make her work in an outline, leg yield, flex etc - sometimes I don't, I just let her stroll along! We jump about twice a week and do flatwork once or twice.  If i've time after flatwork we wander out for a short hack to chill out and cool down. x

i try to ride every day depending on weather. i don't have a specific schedule, i just do whatever i feel like that day. i try to jump twice a week, do some schooling and then hack out, i don't do the same thing on same days, it all depends on the weather and if the ground is wet as i don't have a school so have to ride in my field and it can become quite slippy when it's been raining heavily. my horses can be quite clumsy too so more likely to skid and fall, also skid into jumps, had that happen before lol!!

Norwegian Fjords - the golden horses with the golden hearts. Minty, Loki, Teiko, Willow, Cherry & Charlie - my lovely ponies :)

Re: How often do you ride and do you vary your type of work each time?

I don't really have any facilities that are even remotely weather proof - so what I do depends on the weather. I much prefer going to school or jump. Parsley *usually* does abouty 6-7 hours a  week but at the moment he's more of a field ornament lol. Weather hasn't been on our side at all..

On the weekend, I usually go for a long ride out that's interesting with some good canters, or a gallop if the ground is nice and soft for him. That usually lasts about 2 hours.

It's lonely in the saddle since the horse died.

Mine varies week to week. I try to work her 5 times a week but it does depend on how manic it is at work!

I alternate between a couple of schooling sessions, some Pessoa, some jumping/pole work and hack at wkends.

Usually I have a lesson once a week and tbh I could do with hacking more often as she is a bit wimpy so the more she goes out and sees the world the better!

Ellie normally does light schooling/hacking on Monday, harder schooling or jumping on a Wednesday, with me. Then she does about 4-5 lessons over the weekend in the riding school, on Fri, Sat and Sun.

Luckily we have 2 arena's and 20 acres of woods for hacking, so  I can ride whatever the weather.
