Your Horses Family

My Horse Sabrina or Sabina her Belgian name a Belgian Warmblood has 2 daughters which are still at the place I bought her from, now last evening the ex-owner of Sabrina has invited me over to see the new foal when she is born next week to Sabrina's daughter so my horse is to be a grandmother shortly. I wonder if anyone else knows about their horses history and I somehow think your horse knows what is happening as anyone who thinks they are a dumb animal is in for a very nasty shock.

Gypsy Gold does not chink & glitter. It gleams in the sun and neighs in the dark.Tonka & Lara my beautiful horses RIP, Nelson,Chloe & Kitty the cats.

Re: Your Horses Family

I have seen pictures of Roobee's mum Lizzie of Larchmont and i know Roobee has had at least 3 foals. She had a filly called Roobees sparkle and of course  my JJ who is now a year old gelding. I can look at the other off spring out of Lizzie at the web pages of the stud where Roobee was born, which is nice.

Re: Your Horses Family

i tried to find out about dotty's heritage, but nothing on her passport, and her last owner got her from a dealer, who she contacted but he has no records! came from belgium origonally i think

my boy gilly 'gilded dancer' is an ex-racehorse with a detailed family tree, father bishop of cashell and mother la piaf. i also know his half brother, merlins dancer, by la piaf, my dad used to have him as a racer too, think he is at heroes now

my horses are my medicine, without them im even more crazy!

i'm really lucky with my girls breeding.

now dont judge this as it's really sad haha, but her ancestors are easily traced back to the 1600's :) It's absolutely amazing seeing how its all been documented and recorded and what horses used to mean! Lovely knowing she has that heritage :) Especially as for my a level in art i did Stubbs, and he actually painted some of her family haha! was a fab link :) super interesting, spent far too long of my life looking up the history of them all :)

Re: Your Horses Family

Your horse will not know her daughter is due to foal, if they lived in the same place then it would be different, if they see things they have a vague understanding, But this is not the case!! Some people really do give to much credit to horses. They do not feel jealousy or greed or any other human emotion in the same way we do, but that's not to say they don't feel. lots of it is a case of nurture not nature.

Re: Your Horses Family

I know nothing about Coco's family. He has no parents listedon his passport and as I boough him from a dealer she had no records either, just that she brought him over from Ireland. I bet my biggun was the cutest and cheekiest foal though, he is so inquisative, brave and playful now, I would love to see a picture of him when he was a nipper! Based on his behaviour and health issues though I dont think Coco had a very nice human family until he came to me though, he has a couple of huge scars on his legs so he's been in a nasty accident or accidents when he was younger, his teeth were so sharp the vet didn't think he'd ever had them done when we bought him, he had never been taught to pick up his feet for pickingout let alone the farrier and he  used to have major insecurity issues on his own and is still prone to insecurity when he is out somewhere new and a lot of people say that can be caused by weaning too early or too harshly so I dont think he had enough time with his mommy and due to his liver issue, hoof imbalance problems that should have been sorted when he was younger and signs that he had his ear twitched and now has nerve dammage in his left ear as a result, I dont really think he was really cared for at all in his younger life.

Me and my mum are his family now (and Justin and William his field buddies!) and as much as I would love to know about his dam and sire, brothers and sisters and what he was like as a baby I guess all that matters now is that he is loved, cared for and happy with his family and life!

Re: Your Horses Family

I know some of of my horses history.

Bramble i bought from a friend when she was still on her mum, she was 3 minths old. So i know her mum and i also know her dad and some of her brothers and sisters.

I bred Danser so obviously i know her mum and her dad. I had seen her grandad race.

Charlie i have seen pictures of his dad and seen his bloodlines, he is very well bred. I haven't seen what his mum looks like as she had already been sold from the stud when i bough him. All i know about her is she was a bay ex racer about 15.3hh. He has a full brother somewhere hut i have never heard anything about him.

Wish i have seen pictures of both his parents and seen pictures of his grandad. He is a well bred section B. He had been through Fayre oaks sale as a yearling.

Sky i haven't seen any of her parents but she was bred by a gypsy but she was very well looked after.

Re: Your Horses Family

Ellie I know was originally called Ebony when she was born.

She has a foal called Heather who I have never traced but would love to, and one of the horses at my yard is related to her in some way, I think they are cousins.

I don't have her passport as she is a loan from my stables, so I don't know anything about her parents even if they are listed.
