tail rubbing..someone help me please!

Parsley is not a scratcher/rubber so this is all very odd... But..here we are.. He is rubbing his tail! :O I'm  a neat freak with him and he is kept very very clean and is thoroughly phaffed with at least twice a day. He's been rubbing the top of his tail and little parts of it have started to bleed.

he was wormed in April and is stabled in at night.

`Also..he's tailbone has become very sensitive?..in a way that he moves it to either side if I try to touch it. He's not nasty with it but moves it about either side of his bum cheek which makes it look like its very sensitive and he's trying to get it away from me? He has never done this before. I've been putting sudocrem on it because it seemed quite dry but..

what is this?! Someone lol. Having a scruffy tail is killing me..he's usually so pristine!

Benzyl Benzoate is good, also Avon Skin so soft its the midges this year such a pain, some horses like people get bitten.

Get some maleseb shampoo from your vets. It is really good. I have just got some for Danser as she is doing the same thing. Wash his tail twice a week for a few weeks with it, that should sort him out, it has almost stopped Danser from scratching and it was driving her mad, i have been using it for 2 weeks now.

Both Tenor and Tilly rub their tails in the Summer, the most common cause is a reaction to the saliva of midges and it can also be caused by scurfy tails. I use a normal teatree shampoo and Nettex stop itch salve. It works up to a point lol ! If his skin is very sore and sensitive I would'nt use fly repellent just yet, the shampoo that Sam and Micki have suggested sounds very good, might try some myself.

Make sure you use plenty of insect spray when putting them out and when putting them at night, some people put a fly sheet on them when out at grass except it caused more problems than it solved as Sabrina sweated up.
