Well Anya's previous mummy is due today, I have brushed her to within an inch of her life, finally got around to tidying her mane, swept and washed the yard, cleaned anything and everything in sight - well I've been out there since 5am!!!!

Really nervous about what she is going to say but thank goodness Anya is having a good few days at the moment and we are having more blood test next week.

I hope old Mummy can see why I don't think its time to say goodbye yet.  I feel like I did 30 years ago going into exams!!

There is no greater gift than to share time with a creature of such beauty - The Horse.

I'm sure she will be delighted to see her and to see that you've taken such good care of her.  I think when people move their horses on, the main thing they hope for is a caring, loving and knowledgeable home, which Anya clearly has.

Well I can understand the nervousness, but I don't think you need worry - you've been doing a wonderful job with Anya (and the other 2 as well of course!) not many owners would have been so dedicated to getting help and doing everything they could to get to the bottom of the problem like you have.

 Wow, what a day, I am shattered!  Anya was an angel, she looked and behaved like a dream, bless her. Old mummy said she looked really well and hard to believe she was so poorly, but I think more importantly could see why I wanted to continue and not give up, so I am pleased to say I have her blessing so long as I feel I can cope.

It really helped because she knows Anya she could see what I see, a horse whose not yet ready to go but yes has some problems. She has been spoilt rotten with carrots and apples,much to ZZ's annoyance but what was interesting after she left Anya laid down and slept for about an hour, really unusual.

I am exhausted but feel I have had the approval I needed to continue and get my girl as well as I can and out being a horse.  Anya was strange, after she left she laid down and slept for hours, almost like she had had approval, very strange as she has been with me more years than previous mummy, but maybe she needed some sort of closure from her old life.  Whatever, I love her to bits and am very proud of her!

So glad it all went well, and it does sound as though Anya was aware of the significance of "old mummy" visiting, would be lovely to know what thoughts were going through her head.

Anyway, good luck with getting her dosage settled now, so she can enjoy the rest of her life with you :o)

Glad that everything went well for all of you. You have worked so hard for your mares and Anya's old mummy could see that she is being given every chance and is getting the very best care. if your'e not careful you will be exhausting yourself ! Try to get some rest, I know it's not easy when you have so much to do and think about but all of us guys on here will nag you to make sure that you look after yourself too !! Let us know how Anya is doing, keep us all updated, best wishes Lyn XX

Ha ha old mummy is Anya"s previous owner, she gave me Anya 4 years ago as her circumstances meant she couldn't look after her. I suppose I always feel Anya is still hers as no money parted hands. Reality is I have had Anya longer, old mummy saved her from starvation brought her back into work but sadly found she had kissing spines and couldn't be worked, she could only afford to keep one horse and really wanted to fulfill dreams of competing in dressage, and Anya was not the horse. I was looking to rehome another horse and the rest is history!  Old mummy and I stay in touch and she does try to come and visit when possible but it's a 200 mile round trip. 

Re medication, yes it takes a while to get dose right and we are blood testing every 14 days, and I will hang on in there, I am known for not giving up, so long as the horse is happy, I think Anya us on the whole!,
