A boy and I were out on a hack, in daylight, wearing our hi-vis gear and we slowed down as a car came up the road towards us, we were in single file and we started asking the driver to slow down, using our arms obviously... and the driver just drove on past us, not even taking her time to slow down or stop until we passed.

Do drivers just think we are waving at them when we give them signals? I wouldn't be surprised if anyone has ever came across a driver who has waved back!!

Drivers NEED to learn!!!!!

Can you get your slogan put on window stickers? I think most horsey folk have cars/boxes and would put them on. It'd at least make people think while sat at traffic lighs....

I think there's some stickers on Ebay atm.

We do need safer roads,unfortunetly i have to ride on busy country road all the time to get anywhere,which the locals have just won a protest to stop the hgv coming threw and i have to pick my times very carefully to go out which is usually very early at the weekends. or late summer evenings.

but then if you go out late evenings in the summer you have the joyriders out thinking it is great fun to come by you at speed with head banging music blasting out and shouting abuse out of there windows at you,and with a tabarb on saying( youngster in training) on plus all my hi vi seems to mean nothing! but yet there making less and less access paths of road in my area.the mind boggles

You can get some on ebay which say "Kill Your Speed Not My Horse", they are made by someone who also lost a horse due to a road incident, I've got one on my car.

 This is a terrible story, this is why I don't like riding near the roads but at the same time I love a hack out!! 

If this happened to any of my horses I truly would be devastated, I agree and something does need to be done! Maybe if it was reported there could be a tv advert or something with Ruby's story on aswell, or signs near the roads saying SLOW, horses or WIDE AND SLOW or something! 

I this gets truly out of hands then someone needs to start something where they get fined for driving to fast near horses! Its fair enough in my honest opinion! 

Poor Ruby, stupid, careless idiots on road, drives me nuts! I can't imagine what the owner is goin through! :(
