Best Fly spray?

Hi,

As the weather is extremly warm and the air swarmed with flys my mare i going out unrugged but she gets extremly wound up by the flies and i havent as of yet got a fly rug... She never lets me put fly spray on her, i dnt know wheteher its just the smell ior the feel of something sprayng on her coat i dont know, i have also tried to spray it in my hand and rub it down her but she still isnt keen - Whats the best fly spray to use? Is there a fly spray on the market that doesnt really smell and sting your noise?

Thanks

I've always used barrier super plus fly repellant, love the smell and it works!  I think it has avocado in it which smells lovely - my old Vet when she was pregnant craved the smell of it - she is strange mind you!!!

You can't get near Anya with a spray either, but as she loves being brushed I tend to spray on the the brush and then brush her over with it!

Me too, it's really good, but this year I've also used Feedmarks Bluebottle gel for Captain who hates being sprayed, gets mild sweet itch, and won't keep a fly rug on for 2 minutes, I've found although you still see the flies and midges round him they don't seem to bite, so I'm quite impressed with it.

I have started using Avon skin so soft for the midges plus a fly mask, my horse did use a fly rug except it makes her sweat up. My horse has to learn who is boss and we had a little disagreement about fly masks but just tied her up and fixed on, the same with fly spray now she just stands looking grumpy tuff as only a female can sorry mare.

My mare hates sprays and hates fly spray but will tolerate white vinegar, tea, citronella and a drop of tea tree oil as a mix.  It smells less chemically than shop bought normally does and it's much cheaper if you buy the citronella off the internet in larger bottles!
