Well, went to field Mon am, and found Manny with his hind leg stuck through the fence.
I think he'd had a stretch and his foots caught on the fence.
He'd obviously been stood there on three legs for a couple of hours and couldn't get his leg out.
Had to cut fence to free him, fortunately keep wire cutters at the field! Bless him, he was calm as a cucumber and just stood there! (good job it wasn't H, hed have panicked and made a right mess of himself!)
Tied him up and went to get stuff to clean him up, and came back to a puddle - poor soul must have been desperate for a wee !
Washed wound with mild hibiscrub solution, and called vet. Then plaited his tail and put an old sock on to keep it up out of the way.
She came an hour or so later, examined leg, gave him painkiller and something to help shift the swelling. And put this aluminium spray stuff on which seals wound so keeps it clean and dry, but it can still breath, and ooze if its going to. The wound is more of a friction burn than a cut, and looks sore. Its above the hock so impossible to bandage, so thank goodness for this spray!
Hes got bute and something else (cant rememer what its called) to have in food twice a day; so hes happy, gets an extra feed!
Walking on it better today, but vet said it will take a while for swelling to go down. Being out's best so he can move around.
Here's pics of before and after treatment, just so you can go " Yuck!"
