anyone with a rabbit haha!

basically i want to buy a mini lop bunny, but it seems such mixed opinions on them! they seem either lovely and cuddly and friendly, or an absolute nightmare! I really want something little and quiet and cuddly (as much as a rabbit can be) but when i was younger i had the rabbit from hell, she literally was the devil reincarnated.  So now i am just so worried that when it gets hormonal it will change from a bundle of fluff into pure evil again! Good old Buttercup the bunny scarring me for life ey!

anyway, i was just wondering if anyone had any experience with these at all? Wether i get a boy or a girl it will be sterilised as soon as poss and for now live in the shed and play in the garden and house when supervised, then when i go to uni in a few months im planning on smuggling it in my room and taking it for walks (optimistic yes i know haha!)

Any tips/opinions/personal experiance would be fab!

I used to have a lop eared dwarf,  he was neutered  but could still have a temper!    I was the only person who could give him a cuddle,  but on his terms ha ha!  He hated you cleaning his hutch, sorry 3 storey apartment although he spent most of his time in the house.  He was house trained and had a dirt tray and only went to his hutch to sleep or eat, until he was poorly then he moved himself into the spare room and slept under the bed!  Sadly he had to be pts on valentines day - I hate that day.  He was a real sweetie but I would not have another but more I can't cope with all the goodbyes.

All i know about rabbits is buy from an owner who has bred by acident or fun so they ae handled lots before you buy not from a shop or breeder who will of had less contact.

why not call a few rabbit rescue places. Dont laugh........ they do exist! the people there would be able to advise you on the type you need and maybe give a nice furry a lovely home too. xxGood luck. xxx

I have a dwarf lop (who is not particularly dwarf) as a house rabbit.  He is lovely and friendly but not great at being picked up.  Thats probably because I don't tend to pick him up very often though.  He comes and jumps on my knee or nudges my leg when he wants a cuddle so its very much on his terms.  He has been neutered and never bits or scratches although he will occassionally grunt if he is a mood lol x

When my daughter was small we had two rabbits from the RSPCA, both dwarf lops, both male - one was the rabbit from hell like your Buttercup and my daughter was totally scared to do anything with him, the other was a lovely chap who was very laid back and friendly and who would go on walks round the garden on his rabbit harness and lead.

And about sneaking one into uni - in her second year at uni when they were out of halls, some friends of daughters got a house rabbit to share between the 4 people in the house, who is still there and goes home with the main carer in the holidays.

That sounnds pretty much like my Dwarf Lop, although he lives outside and doesn't really come up and nudge, I know that I didn't handle him enough when he was little though!

Hi,

I have two rabbits among my menagerie of pets.

A male lion head and a female french lop both neutered  They are like little and large lol.  They are both house trained and very friendly.  The male more so than the female.  From experience males are far more friendly than females. They are really easy to litter train and do make great house pets.

thanks guys! :) i've decided to take the plunge and add to the collection of pets and am literally about to reserve a little ginger mini lop bunny! he's adorable and the breeders seem lovely and you can tell they are mad about rabbits and love them alot, so hopefully all shall go well! Im most likely going to get one of his siblings too but they all look identical currently so i'll be visiting them asap but im having my tonsils out next week haha!

Icebunny your's are loooovely, especially your lionhead! bet thats fun to groom haha :)
