Lost my boy today, R.I.P Silver

Silver was put to sleep today, at 1.45 by the vet. He had been suffering with laminitis and constant gravel. As well as his artheritis is his joints. He was 27.

I'm going to miss him more than I can say, he had a lovely last two years of retirement living out with a big herd (he was the boss!) and lots of laaaydeees!! :P. He was immense as a ridden horse, we went everywhere together. We would go out for mammoth hacks, he never napped or did anything out of line. His only trick was standing on his hind legs, woops. Silver could jump the moon and gallop with wings, i am so priviliged to have owned and loved him for 10 years. The boxes of rosettes just show what a super little horse he was.

Silver baby i'm sorry i couldn't make you better, I love you so much. I hope with me you will remember the good times and forget your past. You made me who i am in and out the saddle, taught me paitence and understanding as well as what it feels like to fly.

Thank you for being my best friend and companion, 10 years was not long enough. I hope you enjoyed being an oap, getting all them fit mares under your command. I know today you felt ok, maybe a little foot sore but I wanted you to go on a good day, without pain and a belly full of grass and apples. I hope you knew how loved you were, so talented and so smart. Most of all I love you, I will miss you. Thank you.

So sorry, he looked like he had a wonderful life. 27 is quite good though, the ex-racehorse I used to loan was pts at 24 due to arthritis and it broke my heart as I was on holiday when it happened and cried for weeks xxx

R.I.P lovely Silver

A new day has begun
The worst is over now but the
damage has been done
And you bear the scars of everything
that you've been through
Now you have someone who
believes in you

Free like the earth strong as the
mountain
Free like the ocean wild in the
storm
Free like the fire burning brighter
than a star
Free like the wind whispering in your heart

The brightest star I know
I just want to see your true
colours show
There within your heart let your
Light shine for all to see
So you can be the best that you
can be

Free like the earth strong as the
mountain
Free like the ocean wild in the
storm
Free like the fire burning brighter
than a star
Free like the wind whispering in your heart
I'm free.

Wherever you find your home
You can take us with you
wherever you roam
There's a place within our hearts
and you'll always be there
You're earth water fire and air

Free like the earth strong as the
mountain
Free like the ocean wild in the
storm
Free like the fire burning brighter
than a star
Free like the wind whispering in your heart

I'm Free
Free like the ocean
Free like the fire burning
Free like the wind whispering in your
heart

Lotty & shona gives hugs xx

So sad and sorry to hear about your loss. I had to put my boy sleep a couple of years ago due to similar problems and it was horrible so I know what it like to some degree. Just think that he is out of pain and never can be hurt again, its obvious that he had an amazing life with you too... RIP Silver x
