No. But i count though. If im trotting i count 1,2,1,2 in a rhythm i do the same in canter 1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4 and so on. I find that does the trick plus you can use it anywhere, i've used it in my dressage tests when i can feel the horse get a bit quick or if he's seen something it just gives you that bit extra controll plus their ears flick backwards and forwards so it looks like their really listening to you (all adds up in your marks)

1234, 1234 for canter - are you sure?

I've got some rhythm beads. Got them at christmas time so that when out hacking we would sound like one of santas reindeer! We do wear them sometimes, mainly just coz they sound so nice.

Do they actually work ?!! I had a hard time from the websites working out exactly what they are for and if they work ... I would get them because they look pretty but I do want a bit more from them than that haha !!!

I think canter beat is 1,2,3, 1,2,3. Unless your horse has a 4 beat canter which is not correct. Sorry.

Now here is a fact, there is one horse that naturally has a 4 beat gait and that is the Paso Fino, now the Paso Largo is the fastest 4 beat gait which is their canter.

So if you own a Paso then you are correct in having a 4 beat pace at canter if not, sorry it is only 3

Oh - and they are fabulous to ride I was lucky enough to have the opportunity a few times and it is an addictive experience.

They are perfect for using on bridleways  especially round here as walkers, dog walkers and people with children and bikes use them and the jingle of the beads and bells tell them something else is round the corner.  Mine are blue which is supposed to be settling and calming.  She also has a small piece of egyptian turquise shaped like a scarab on her bridle.

I made my own! It's really not hard to do. You need some really good strong fishing line , what ever beads you like (either natural stones if you believe in all the healing energy stuff or nice noisy ceramic beads or even plastic ones with some jingle bells) and a bit of imagination. I have attatched mine to my breast blate so its easy to put on and off. They do help you listen to the rythem but to be honest a jingly bracelet on your wrist does the same job and is cheaper!

a pony is a child's dream,a horse is an adult's treasure.
