Regional Get Into Dressage Days

Don't know if you've seen it but British Dressage have organised a series of Get Into Dressage days. You can check if there's one in your area through the regional activities page - www.britishdressage.co.uk/your_regions/overview

There's 3 levels of practice test that you can do.

I'm interested in dressage and was interested in going to one of these days. The only downside for me is that I'm a nonhorse owner, so I contacted the regional development officer and explained my situation. I've been asked if I'd like to go and watch, and would I like to help the judge with the write ups. I've said I'd love to. Its a side that I've never seen or experienced before and I'd find it interesting to learn more about. I'm really looking forward to this day now   So my advice would be for nonhorse owners is don't be put off if you're interested just email the contact for the event and ask.

There was a write up in Chiltern Rider about the Eastern Region one. They had over 100 applicants for the places. It looked like a very good day.

It was a very good day. I thoroughly enjoyed it and learnt alot from the judge I worked with during the day. Here's how I got on - borrowing-freedom.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/learning-about-dressage-view-from.html

That must have been such an interesting day, and you seem to have learnt a lot from it as well - you sound really taken with it, so I guess you'll be going again and volunteering for more writing in the future !!

Take care xx

Absolutely. I've done dressage writing now at three separate events. Stewarded at a fourth and also assisted with stewarding at a show jumping event. Got some more coming up this autumn / winter. Might not own a horse still but its a great way of being more involved with horses in addition to my weekly lesson.

I write at affiliated dressage competitions on a regular basis. Volunteering is a very good way to get involved.
