Re: can i back her lightly now???
How great is that, isnt it a nice feeling knowing your doing it yourself, creating a bond with your horse. The best thing is as i think you are finding from your description, that your horse will work just as you teach her, she will be willing to work well from your aids as its all shes ever known. Theres no confusion which is great.
Is your girl shod or barefoot? what is she like with her feet being picked up genrally, and at what point does she show resistance to the farrier, if you could pin point exactly what it is she doesnt like, that may help you work out a way to make things easier for her.
Me and bob are enjoying lots of lovely rides this week as ive had a week off work :) my boys going through a silly stage with the trailer! he has always loaded well, hogged the box when we put it in the field for the foal to go in, but he has decided now that sometimes, when he decideds that actually he doesnt fancy the box today. He gets to the ramp and just ignores me. So ive had to get a bit harder with him, he's going to walk all over me otherwise the monkey! The technique i used was making him back up, get his attention and become more of a leader, and my gosh is worked, a big walk on and we were on like pro's over and over again, im made up. I helped a horse who was nervous of trailers, and used completly different techniques, im just loving working out how these animals feel.
