Are most resposible horse owners Paranoid ?

The subject came up during yesterdays fowl weather that all the owners of the horses on the new yard are paranoid all of us me included this was taken not being nasty but we all worried and cared for them perhaps going above and beyond what some do. It was noticed that all the horses on the yard are all pedigree so perhaps a need that little special extra and we all use our gut feeling knowing if they are not quite right. But I think that many on this forum are the same as all horses are different and have there own character when you get to know them treating them with respect. Yesterday we were all worried about taking them out which we left as long as we could but brought them in at 2.30pm which was the right decision as all waiting at the gate and if it had been left open would have got back to their stables but think the 2 mares would have gone with the gelding into his stable. So Paranoid horse owners rule at our yard which includes me.

Our little you is the same. Although we do rug up and leave the horses out as much as we can during the "summer" months, we visit every day and we all keep an eye on each others horses. When we get vet/dentist out, we let others know so they can get their horses done too.x

My motto seems to be "if in doubt, worry!"  but I'm getting better as I learn to trust my instincts!  I'd definitely agree therefore that I would probably be classified as paranoid (at least about some things to do with my horses!)

Hahaha - yep, just the same, and my OH is probably worse than me - he'll very often say late at night as I'm drifting off to sleep "do you think the horses: are warm enough / have enough hay / have run out of water / have gone through the electric fence..."

But they're like having children, you never really stop worrying about them - I hope they all appreciate how much we suffer for their wellbeing, lol !!

Tonight worrying were they too warm as the temp did reach the dizzy height of 15 degrees, will the temp go down tonight, this coming month has not good memories concerning myself and horses as lost 2 in 12 months in May, my old lad Tonka in 2010 was 30 then Lara with a twisted gut 2011. Now getting Sabrina to accept me and stop trying to be boss even though she is a female sorry mare.

I agree with Sue, they are like having children and we all want to do the very best for them. Tenor and Tilly are family and they are our responsibility, depending on us for their health, happiness and well being. I think that we worry because we care.

I was told by my vet that my horse had a better health care package than its owner, then being told by the rescue centre I had gone far beyond what is expected of people who take their loan horses this was with Lara, but each horse I have is a project and my duty to keep in the best condition I can, also going with this gut feeling which I also found works with strange horses which I have never seen before and can pick up on their moods, many mares I have come across come for a cuddle.

I am so paranoid about lameness, constantly trotting mine up and staring at their legs while lunging, vet on speed dial and always shouting "does he/she look off behind!" .... people must find me so annoying, and probably the most irritating thing about it is my horses are fine I'm just a worrier !!!

Yes. I am a panicker. I guess since Parsley got ill, I worry about him all the time.

It's lonely in the saddle since the horse died.
