I'm proud but scared at the same time !!

Omg Tilly is growing up fast, it actually seems as if she's shot up in the past few days ! She looks like a TB racehorse !! Dermot said that he hardly recognised her this afternoon as he walked Tenor out with us, he just could'nt stop looking at her. I know this is going to sound sooooo stupid but it's scarey !! She has always behaved when I've hacked her out, she can get a bit strong at times but Tilly has never done anything really bad, I don't know what I'm expecting her to do lol but she's a fit strong girl now so i hope that she continues to respect us, I think that deep down I'm worried about being over horsed but atm i enjoy riding her as she's so rewarding. For those of you who don't know Tilly's history you must be wondering why we bought a youngster, it's a long story !! But i'm not completely bonkers lol.

Aww i feel for you. It can be scary- itsd kinda like having a baby - they grow up too fast! Everyone feels over-hoesed at some point, but that only adds to the enjoyment of having them when they are grown up :) Buying a youngster is always fabulous because even if you have to sell them - you can think to yourself: Im the person that made this horse how he is today. i am the person that has helped his new owner have fun and enjoy riding.

Good luck :-) Im sure it will be worth it in the end!

How big is she Lyn? I have this thought in my head that she's about 15hh, is that right?

Thanks HorseMad2911, hopefully we will never have to sell her, she will have a loving home for life with us and the same goes for Tenor my gorgeous Welsh Sec D.

Hi Sue, We have'nt measured her for a while but she's at least 15.2hh. I know that this is'nt big lol but I'm used to my little 14.2hh welshie ! She probably seems bigger to us as she's filled out and muscled up quite a bit. I will have to take some photo's and give everyone an update.

Anything over 15.1 looks big to me!!

Fate is about 14.3, Bracken 15 and Monty 15.1, and as you say you get used to what sizes you have, so something of 16.00 would seem enormous - we did very briefly have a 16.2, which looking back on now was a looooong way down when you were riding her, lol.

If you still enjoy riding her now, then I'm sure you'll continue to do so in the future - the best of luck with her :o)

I know what you mean, 5 minutes ago or so it seems anyway, Zara was a wee 13hh foaly and now she's standing the same height as Sammy at 16hh aged only nearly 3, so she's a bit more growing to do.  Then there's Blair who's 16.3hh and very sleek, sometimes I look at him and think oh dear god you're enormous, but thankfully he never uses his height against anyone, he has the lovliest nature and would walk through thorns just to give you a kiss.

Blair sounds a real sweetheart ! Zara is beautiful, i've just had a look at your gallery. Will you be backing her and training her yourself ?

Yes, we're at the long reinging phase just now and bless her she's totally got it first time she was asked, she just seems to know what we want her to do.  She's had all the tack on and my OH has sat lightly on her, so we'll keep long reinging just now as I don't think you can ever do too much of that, then in July when we both have some time off together we'll get her backed and ridden off lightly, then we'll keep at it over the summer months and turn her away for winter, when she comes back in next spring she'll hopefully be able to start a bit of "proper" stuff although she'll only be 4 so it will just be some flat work and hacking, no jumping til she's around 5 I would think.

I'm sure she will continue to be a good girl for you Lyn, she hasn't been pushed to do too much too soon so she shouldn't object loudly to anything - relax and enjoy her xx  That being said we all worry, I worry Rhodri might change into a nutter but try and push it out of my mind, I know he will be a different kettle of fish to the tankster.  Sharper and more forward but hoping the trust we have built will stand us in good stead when the time comes to risk life and limb

Hi Sam, good luck with Rhodri, he's such a stunning little man and I'm sure that he will be good for you as you've built a bond with him. Tilly's story is a bit complicated lol, we did'nt get the chance to really work properly with her last Summer as she was'nt ours, I'm planning to do some ground work with her this Summer when the paddocks eventually dry out !! She can be a handful sometimes to lead in hand so i just want to establish some rules. XX
