Re: i cant stop thinking N E G A T I V E.

I totally agree get vet to give him the full mot once over to rule out any pain.

I also agree it could be boredom from being out of work getting bolshy and I do not agree with side reins to stop rearing.  I know a horse in this situation and it freaked out and still went up but went over crushing rider and injuring itself too.

One person says some tbs can be pains in the arses or something like that which I object to as its not just tbs that have hissy fits and I have two and wouldnt accept this from either.  I think it could be pain related before the horse is blamed for being a pain in the arse needs checked......

Our lad after boxrest has had issues being bolshier but now he is back in his routine which he needs he is settled again so good luck xx

Hey, try not to be so upset, the fact that you're perservering is astounding!  I cannot recommend practical horsemanship enough.  It cost me a fortune to send Munchie to Dan's but I absolutely believe that horse would have killed me in the end if I hadn't.

I urge you to have a look at their website - google practical horsemanship - the founders are Dan Wilson and Grant Bazin.

Good luck, hang in there! xx

I am sorry i didnt mean to offend. I totally agree that all breeds of horses can have a pain in the arse horse as they can be good too. I didnt mean to say it was just TB's, i know many horses can be like it, I did say that some are lovely too.  I have had a couple of pain in the are horses, an ISH, a welsh cob x. I have handled a TB which was the same, however i have had an anglo arab x, Appaloosa x which pushed their luck and turned out really well. I have ridden a lovely TB.

Again i apologise for any offence caused.

Re: i cant stop thinking N E G A T I V E. - My pony used to be a bit like this. You just have to stick with him, and maybe try and re-teach him manners. Get him to listen to you. Not really sure n the sit. so can't exactly explain. But yes, maybe check him over again? :)

Re: i cant stop thinking N E G A T I V E.

So sorry to hear about what happened, My friend had a similar problem she rescued two tb's both unhandled and 'dangerous' one was supposed to be broken and riding but you couldnt get near him and when you did he would do anything to get his own way.
I have never been in your position with a dangerous horse as I have only ever had a nervous horse who became dangerous (bucking, kicking etc) when he was scared. I would say to go back to basics and take things really slowly with him. Just spend time with him, grooming and leading and if he starts messing around then tell him off a little tap on the nose or ask him to turn in a circle a couple of times will stop him. Just take things slowly and build up gently, I wouldn't lunge or ride him until your 100% happy with him on the ground, being lead and in the stable otherwise your putting yourself and the horse in danger.
Reward him on everything good he does and stamp out anything bad. I would really recommend Parelli, it makes you go back to basics and learn from your horse about your horse. It will help you get a better bond and control him. Best of luck
