Tack for Sommerford park

Hi :)

As it says really I am going next week for the first time and was wondering what the best bits and boots would be.  Nobility is usually ridden in a french link snaffle fine for everyday use and schooling but he can get a bit strong when his feet touch the grass especially in larger groups like fun rides (which this is).  I was basically after any ideas or advice on bits to try and also any protective boots etc that would be best.

I have the white flex boots and basic bandages but I am worried if we go in the water that either of these would be uncomfortable for him.

I want him to have the best protection and have fun whilst the and for me to feel confident that I will be in control.  He has been ridden in a pelham previously which worked well for his stronger days but this was with double reins which I think would be a bit to much to handle along with jumping etc.  What are peoples thoughts on roundings? I am not sure I like the idea but I am open to any suggestions really.

Off on a shopping trip to Robinsons tomorrow so any suggestions welcome.

Thanks xx

I ride Tommy in a Kimblewick, spent years trying different bits which he has for a couple of weeks till he works out how to evade it.

The Kimblewick just seems to be right for him, as you know we mostly hack which I tend not to even have a contact for but it's there if required and a sqeeze of the rein will stop him in his tracks

have fun at Sommerford Park

When I took him hunting i went in a gag and quite frankly i may as well have been bitless I had no control at all

Re: Tack for Sommerford park

Thanks :) I have had a look at Kimblewicks and it looks as though it will do the job and without the faf of two reins!  I didn't bother going to Robinsons in the end as they didn't have it on the website, I just hope my local tack shop has one.

Does anyone have any ideas on boots/bandages?
