Put long lines on Rhodri today :)

Well i've been thinking about the long lines for a while, wondering if its too soon or too much for little Rhodri.

So this weekend I decided I would just see if he was happy with the ropes.  He was fine with the ropes didn't bat an eyelid

He obviously didn't have a clue what I wanted him to do once I was stood behind him so my husband led him around the moss school with me behind him for a couple of minutes, then he led him back down to the house.

I'll leave it now for a few months then do the same again, but as always he was perfect if a little "what do you want me to do mum"

He's lovely.  We've done a bit of long reining with Zara, as she's 3 in June we want to back her lightly this year and turn her away again until she's 4, and we're hoping to get her going a bit better on the long reins this weekend coming up as my OH is off for 4 days, he can start it off and I'll keep it up when I'm off, and keep going for a couple of months until we're ready to get on.

He'll cuddle all day, loves a fuss, I just go out to the field to groom him and I rekon he would stand there all day for the fuss, he grooms me back but he's so gentle all lips and no teeth

He's gorgeous, Sam, and he has such a 'soft' look in his eyes, as though he'd do anything for you.

You certainly picked a winner there

He is gorgeous :)

It really comes across how much you think of him and I love that you're willing to take it nice and slow to build up his confidence - too many people rush young horses and ruin them. I think you're going to have a really nice horse there :D

wow we aren't ready for roads and traffic yet!! He's 14 1 at the moment and 2 this week so we literaly just tried the ropes on and led hem around for 5 minutes tops, I won't do it again now for a few months give him a bit of time to think about it.
