Re: In all honesty, who wouldn't buy a horse because of its looks/gender?
My first ever horse was an Arab gelding who i got as a 6 month old foal (he was 26yr old when he died) he was liver chestnut with loads of white on him this what caught my eye with him and why i chosse him.
My next horse who i no longer have as he was stolen again was a gelding a little dun Shetland i never choose him he choose me as he wouldnt leave me alone. He got stolen i only had him 3 yrs never saw him again.
My next horse was a TB gelding on loan he was Bay got him as he was very good at jumping didnt have him long as he had kissings spine so he got sent back.
Then i got my little Dartmoor gelding again didnt choise him but he was jet black and lovely he is now over in Oz with my cusion.
I then got a 17.3hh ID x TB gelding on retirement from the Household Cavalry i never got to choose him as the army matched us up i just got to ride 10 of there lovley horses he was with me until he died at 28yrs old.
My next was an chossen for me by the breeder as i rang about a Arab (pure) filly foal but she said the colt would be better for me so i got him, he was lovley as a foal chestnut but then he went a horried coulor but now he is a dapple grey and still very dapple at 8yrs old hes also now a gelding.
My other horse i have now is a Bay Arab he was a colt when i got him as a foal hes now a gelding the reasson i got him was he was born on my late grandfathers birthday and the breeder called him T-Bag and my grandad loved his cups of tea so mum just brought him for this and nothing else we had a terrible time with him as a youngster but now he is 5yrs old and becoming a very promissing young horse we have also called him Harry after my late grandfather.
Last summer i got an Arab mare (rescure) but sadly she never got on with my boys so she got sent back she was a Chestnut mare with 4 white legs! i got her as i felt sorry for her being an Arab mare ands all that.
When my 26yr old died my cousin sent over her Arab gelding from Oz (we did a swop) so i could carry on with my endurance season he went back in Oct last year. He was a Flea Bitten Grey. Didnt have a choice but he was good at his job.
I now also have two young Arab foals well yearlings really one is turning grey he is Iron gray at momment i got him as i felt sorry for him as he was the only foal left (got him at 6 month old) and 4 people said they have him and let the breeder down so he came to me when we went up to pick the foal i was meant to have this one is Chestnut with a white face and loads of white on him he is also a colt i got him as the breeder said i have a foal just been born who looks so much like my first Arab he is also very closley related to him so i sent the money for him before i even got to see him.
Ive never had any of my horses vetted mainly due to being foals and under £1000.
So you could say im really a boy person and very much an Arab person.
