In all honesty I was told to steer clear of Chestnut Mares and Warmbloods - I now have a Chestnut 16.2 Warmblood Mare and she is Amazing in every single way; No vices what so ever and a beautiful natured horse with to die for manners!

If I was to steer clear from anything it'd have to be cobs - they're just not my type but in another not too sure whether im just being a typical woman but I would go for a cob if it held it's head nicely and had a nice proportion (Very hard to find though)

I had an unusual coloured Connemara a few years back and he definetly wasn't my type - purchasing due to him being a jumping pony, I fell in love with him after a while, he just had such a cute personality!!

Can I  just say the horse in my avatar is a cob, he is in my opinion beautiful in looks and nature and so so kind to all.  Also I would challenge anyone to say he does not hold his head nicely or is out of proportion - in fact I don't think I've ever seen an out of proportion cob, but I will say that some of the worst ever conformations I have seen have been in thoroughbreds and warmbloods - and before anyone says anything, I also own a warmblood and have had 2 thoroughbreds in my time as well!

I would like to think i would be open minded but saying that i favour gelding over mares and would always go for a darker horse having had a grey who always rolled. Saying that if a horse was what i wanted i could not turn it down over minor things like colour.

Wouldn't it be boring place if we all liked the same things. It shows on this thread just how different eveyone is, which i like. I don't like people pulling others horses down just because of it's breed/colour but i wouldn't like it everyone was the same, the horses would be very boring wouldn't they.

I can understand people not wanting a mare as I have one and know the hormonal issues but I woudnt not buy a horse because of its gender (obviously lol).  I would not buy a stallion having a mare however or a rig......

I would not buy a cob as not my taste but there are some beautiful show cobs out there.  I would not buy a grey or a coloured (unless finer bred coloured) or a dun but thats just my personal taste.

I would not buy a mini as more trouble sometimes than a maxi haha.

I can definitely say up until very recently, I definitely wouldn't look at a mare! Besides one I've met recently, which has slightly changed my mind, I have always found that I have never gotten on with mares, particularly on the ground. I find them less attentive, interested and friendly, and more stubborn and difficult. This is probably just me noticing this, but I've always felt much happier handling geldings!
