How do I get his fur to grow over his scar?

My horse has a massive scar at the top of his rear left leg from where he was really badly treated when he was a baby. When you look at it closely it looks like someone has tried to burn him with something. The look of it doesn't really bother me but a friend suggested camerosa oil might help the hair grow back? I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions of what I could put on it and if it works? Thankyou :)

Rodney has a scar on his nose from an ill fitting bridle in a trekking centre/riding school. It looked loads better over winter when he was good and furry but is showing quite a lot again now. I'm not sure there's anythnig to be done and if it's not bothering them??

Wouldn't have thought there was any harm in trying it, but with a large scar that old I don't think hair will ever grow back.  Just concentrate on making the most of everything else

Cornucrescine is quite good at promoting hair growth, but if there aren't any hair follicles there to start with, then there's not a lot anything will do.

Yes as already said it all depends on how old the scar is as sadly it could be too late.  If its not old then cornucrescine is good, MTG from shineyshowhorse website xx

Jen gets loads of scratches in the summer which take off a layer of hair these take 3-4 weeks to grow back.

Try and aloe vera gel - best ones which really can help are and aloe/seaweed gel.

If the scar is old and the roots of the hair ( don`t know if it is the right word) are damaged the hair won`t grow back I`m afraid.

Wonder Gel works well for small, newer scars.  Didn't work on the scars on my mares cannon bones but she had them when we got her so could be years old.

mtg by shapleys ,although dont put it on when sunny and warm as its oil based , and would burn . has brought hair back on a teather scar from a pony we rescued , aslo mega tec promotes hair growth , applied half a dozen times to a cob who grew a mane past his shoulders in under a year , both can be bought on internet and ebay . x
