im sorry i dont use this forum much anymore but thought i'd come on to update you about Ria!

i know there are probably more new members than old so for those of you that dont know.. im rach, 19 and my horse is Ria 7yo chestnut tb mare who ive had quite a lot of trouble with!

shes now improving sooo much how better to explain other than show vids?!

this is her flatwork - shes started learning to extend, collect and change legs at the moment but here is a recent vid:

this is a mixed vid of her jumping and the bad times ive had with her! - the height was a spur of the moment kind of thing but at the moment we've taken it right down to work on approaching as you can see its pretty awful!

Good to know she's doing so well, after all the problems you had and thought you'd not be able to ride her again.  Did they ever find out what was wrong with her, and what treatment did she get for it?

Re

Hi glad you remembered us! she had a fractured pastern joint (i didnt even know they had joints in the patern!) and boney growths surrounding it, thats why if you look she drags her left hind very slightly, its not lameness anymore though, its just how she compensated when she couldnt use the joint! we put her on danilon and very good joint supplements for a year - a month ago the vet came to check her (we'd taken her off the danilon so he could see the extent of lameness) and he said shes a miracle case and there is no longer a problem with it! she has been sound since coming off the danilon and is actually using her fetlock better than she was when she was on danilon! the only problem is a that she has and will always have a small bump on the inside of her pastern where there are small boney bits but they no longer cause her pain and a barely noticable fault in her gaits, but obviously shes more likely to get arthritis in the future. but for now shes going amazingly!

sorry it doesnt make much sense, im extremely tired lol but im sure you'll be able to piece together what i was wanting to say haha

Re: Good horse!

It's great to see her going so well in the first video. I can remember all the videos before when she was a ver lively horse, like the second video.

Glad to hear that her pastern is no longer giving her any problems . Hope you have many years enjoyment with her.
