When is she likely to come into season ?

We have never noticed that Tilly has ever been in season ! I'm a bit baffled as to why. Does a mare have to be around males to bring them into season ? Tilly only has Tenor for company and I don't think she fancies him anymore lol. Can a mare actually be in season and for it not to be noticable ? Sorry for all of the questions but I've only been used to geldings.

Yes Lyn, it's quite possible she's in season and you haven't noticed - I never know when Bracken is, she's pretty much the same all year round......but Fate is a right brazen hussy, flirting and squirting at Monty at the least provocation !!

it most certainly is that she could be in season and you wouldn't notice. My mums late cob would come into season and you'd have no idea. She was more of a gelding to be honest, she was not marish in any ways. :)

It's lonely in the saddle since the horse died.

I don't think my mare has either, but my old pony used to. She would be a bit silly on those days :)x

Danser has seasons without you really noticing. All you see with her is when mucking out she gets wetter than normal and she gets a bit mucky on her back legs. Sky is a big flirt and so was Bramble. They come in season every 3 weeks from March onwards normally although my girls were in season a while ago and about due to come in again.

When Carys used to come into season the only way we knew was because she was lazy when she was ridden- or more sluggish, she was a very forward going horse normally, just for a couple of days.  She only lived with Tommy, who actually prefers boys  so never showed any interest in her in a blokey way.  However, when we all went to a livery yard for 3 months she completely changed, there was a rig in her field and she was a total slapper!

I never know when my filly is in season either and she lives with my 2 boys, they don't really react to her either.
