Ok sorry if this is really long but this has been building up to long inside of me.

1) Childrens ponies and huge bits. What is up with it? I am 14 and only ride with a very soft snaffle bit. I understand if the pony needs the stronger bit but a 12.2 pony with a gag and a running martingale? Why? If the horse is too strong for you why buy it in the first place? I know a girl (older then me) with a 14.2 pony that she rides in a three ring on the last ring. She is too scared to ride oscar properly and he is wasted. Oscar doesn't need the three ring as the only time he will take a proper pull is out hunting and evn then he only needs the second ring on the bit. I don't get why she bought the horse in the first place as she cant ride him properly.(As in me and my friends ride him most of the time) she can't ride him any faster then a slow canter. She isn't scared of him he's just way to strong for her.

2) I know quite a few people that have a horse(as in a GOOD horse that cost a lot of money) and they are left in a field on few livery for a month or two then pulled in a they wonder why they can't make it round a showjmping course  or a crosscountry course. Does anybody have anyone like this on their yard? It just does my head in.

3) "He's soooooo cute I bet he's sooooo good. Please let me ride him!!!"  Anybody ever heard this? Regulary comes for rich little brats that  have never riden a horse before and think cause it's small it's good. I know a little 12hands gelding that can only be riden by a bout 5 or 6 people(i used to be one of them) and a rich family lived next to the field he was kept in. Every day I went down to help out with him I would get the 3 kids in the field begging for a go. After repeted answers of no he's not a beginers ride. There mom came out one day to tell me off for not letting her brats have a go. Finaly after her not listening to me for about an hour I said fine as long as you know I'm not having any responablity for anything that happened I got a helmet on the oldest ( a 12 year old boy) threw him up on fudge and told him have a nice ride! He lasted about 20 seconds on him! Luckily he didn't have any injuries and that was the last I heard from them. He was the best horse ever and could do anything with the people he liked but if he didn't like you you weren't riding and that was that! I think the longest someone he didn't like stayed on him was 2 minutes!.

4)Gadgets. Sigh............ why does every horse come with a martigale and a flash. Penny is riden in a neckstrap in cause I have a bad need for some balance and a cavanson.I think most come with them as they are in 'fasion' sigh.......... some horses need them but when 10hand high fat little 'LEADREIN' show ponies start to 'need' a martingale it's just a little much don't you think?

Sorry but I just hate peoplewasting or ruining great ponies and horses that peoeple could kill for.

Sorry for the HUGE rant but as I said it was just building up and I needed to get off my chest before I exploded! Has anyone else been wanting to scream lately?
