Now I don't know much about hayledge especially the big bag stuff which when this one was opened smelled like raw sewage, also is very hot inside and has white mould, told its ok to use but glad I use hay. Please I want your thoughts on this as many other horse owners would be worried by this as well, told that the white mould is sugar mould and the horses love it, thoughts Laminitis if it is.

Gypsy Gold does not chink & glitter. It gleams in the sun and neighs in the dark.Tonka & Lara my beautiful horses RIP, Nelson,Chloe & Kitty the cats.

Silage was used successfully as a feed for horses during the second world war and i read that the farmers were really woriied as silage wasn't thought to be a suitable feed, but obv it was ok and now loads of people feed it in the form of hayledge, which is just made with longer grass.

Must have been different silage than nowadays or it must have been kept out of the pit? Yard near us, horse got out, ate its way through some silage (cow's stuff), but because its allowed to fester for so long and contains so much bacteria the horse destroyed its gut and it took three years to recover.

Sincere apologies

I would like to send out my sinceres apologies to everyone on the forum especially Kevin for my rude post.

This is no excuse but I was having a tough week and when I posted the relpy - I was drunk!

I had been beating myself up about something that had happened and took the anger I had towards myslef out on a post - that at the time thought was a bit silly.

I have made my bed & now I have to lie in it but I really am sorry.
