Tumeric, Has anubody every used it??

My girl is 15 and is suffering from joint problems, she has a has caped hocks and posible arthritus. I have been doing some research into magnetinc boots and came across the use of tumeric as an anti inflammatory and an anti oxident helping to stop the spread of melenoma's which my girl has had to have removed.

Does anybody use this and if so what is the doseage and where would be the best place to buy it from? Can you use the same stuff that you buy in the shops?

Any help that anyone can give me would be much appriciated

Thank you

I've bought various herbs and things from www.naturalhorsesupplies.co.uk in the past - I don't know if they sell it, but they're extremely helpful if you email them.

Hi

Anti inflammatory foods work by removing inflammatory products which are being produced by the body as an auto immune response. Cancer spreads more easily in inflammatory cells. This is why these products are getting such wow reviews but if your horse doesnt suffer from an auto immune disorder then you'd be wasting your money. If the  joint disease is inflammatory and not caused by bad confirmation then i'd research Frankinsence. This was trialed by Cardiff University in 2008 and they promoted their excellent results with the headline "end to arthritis", only trouble with that one is that they know that the reason its so successful is because it stops the production of leukotrines, this then worries me as so did Viox, the drug which induced heart attacks in humans. At present i take Algae, but it is incredibly expensive and you have to take up to 40 tablets a day so how many for a horse. It is undergoing trials at the moment for Inflammatory Metabolic Syndrome, which is why i take it, to prove to the big wide world that it works, but if i was you i'd also look at Cherries, they are being hailed also at the moment as great anti inflammatories and you can now buy cherry juice so if you were to add to the feed a cup of cherry juice, it wouldnt break the bank and would be palatable!

Oh as a rider, isnt the reason they hailed Tumeric as an anti inflammatory because it breaks down to Cucumerin (sp) and you can buy that on its own.
