1)  Those people who say they are "Experienced" have nothing more to learn or that they know best - sorry we are all learning all of the time and no one person has the ultimate knowledge or understanding, and I don't just mean with horses! I've been around horses over 40 years and still would not say I am experienced - I learn all the time.

2)  Rude riders who do not acknowledge drivers that slow down, they then moan that cars fly past - I wonder why?

3)  Riders using their mobiles - pay attention to the horse not your social life.

OK that is my top 3, I think I must have got out of the bed the wrong side this morning ha ha!!

There is no greater gift than to share time with a creature of such beauty - The Horse.

1, Being told by an "experienced" person how to look after your horse, when their horse is suffering and they won't call vet/ farrier

2. Out of control dogs when out hacking.

I thought I was the one having a Victor Meldrew moment, experts and experienced grrr, I know I have 45 years and 22 being a horse owner, always learning never know it all, it frightens me experts, also never assume as Benny Hill said it makes an Asss of You and Me. The best experienced item I have found is the gut feeling which you get let it overule your brain, unfortunately for me because Lara did not look quite right lieing down also was not sweating called vet immediately worst news ever Twisted Gut RIP. There are more ways to do a job and being told what to do after looking after a horse for 22 years by people at a new yard don't go down well, also I shut them up by telling them years ago I was offered the Job of Yard manager of a Full Livery Yard with 30+ horses. Also now a BHS County Access and Bridleways Officer and Vice Chairman because I want to make a difference.

1.People that buy horses but never go near them!! Someone on my yard hasnt saw their horse in over a year!! They pay their livery via bank!!

2. Yard politics.......

Frankly, I want a partner, not a slave. I don't use whips or spurs (never needed them). I use patience instead. Works much better. So what if I have to repeat something two hundred times before my horse grasps that it's not dangerous? Surely that's better than enforcing dislike/fear with pain?
I absolutely detest people who tell me "Show him who's boss." I don't want a scared horse, thank you very much. Why would I apply fear and pain, when patience, calmness and understanding work so much better?
The old "if you get off, you've lost" is complete nonsense. I'd rather get off and lead, than enter into a fight I can't possibly win. Especially if the horse is scared. Sometimes all it takes is get off and step toward the scary thing, talking to your horse, reassuring your horse. But alas, that only works if your horse is your partner and it trusts you not to lead it into danger.

I do a lot of ground work. A LOT. People tell me all the time that I'm wasting my time. But you know what? My horse is very anxious at the moment. New yard, new owner, new surroundings. Everything is very scary. But because I'm taking my time, he's slowly calming down and things that petrified him a week ago aren't as scary anymore. Instead of taking off -- acting on that old "Flight" instinct -- he will stand there, shaking, trembling, clearly terrified -- and check with me if it's okay. Whether I'm on, or off.
Had someone tell me to "Give him something to calm him down". Why???
If I can't get my horse to calm down without drugs, then I shouldn't own a horse.
