So I had the vet out for my 15 year old tb mare today as she's seemed like she can't be bothered to lunge for the last couple of days, a little bit unsteady on her feet afterwards.
So when shes listening to her she says she's got a loud murmur but her temp and lungs are normal and she's still scoffing her food like there's no tomorrow! But she wants to take blood and run it as in rare cases it can be heart failure :-/
Then she asks me to get her out and lead her in hand away from her, try to get her to trot away and she just wouldn't move from a walk then the vet comes up and says 'is she pregnant?!' she obviously saw the shock on my face and when I said 'no, well not that I know of!' she said 'I'll just check' nothing came up on the physical rectal exam but because she's had a few foals she wants to do a ultrasound.
She's coming back on Friday to do the ultrasound and to talk about the lab results... I got really scared and asked if she was going to die.. She laughed and said shes a bit of a hatstand but not going to drop dead.
Now ive googled horse heart murmurs read about heart failure etc and freaked myself out.
I wish it was Friday already :(
