Re: Need to vent? Fire away...

just 2 add 2 what shellich said a couple of months ago....i was on a comp at that time so didnt get what she said, but now ive got my laptop i can see what she meant, i have a wireless usb mouse so its not 2 much of an issue, but it was irritating when i was using the mouse pad thing, dont know how much u know of this problem mods, basically when u click on a post topic u can scroll down but within a couple of seconds it jumps back to the top of the page, after that u can scroll as much as u want, happenms when u click on a topic/area and when u have just posted it jumps back 2 your post after u scroll up, hope this explanation makes things more clear 4 u and gives u some help with fixing it, dont know if its a problem u can fix.....fingers crossed!!

And 2 every1 ranting about how pants the response times are, maybe bear in mind its not the mods fault that no one is online!!!shouting at them wont make people come online more often!!some people work 4 a living and cant be online 24/7!!and if u saw someone waiting 4 a response and thort it was that bad, why didnt u respond???im a student now so can be more flexible so hopefully the situation wont be 2 frequent!!

Re: Need to vent? Fire away...

Hi Kirstyndshaky

Thanks for your support. This is still a relatively 'new' site and more and more users are coming onstream every day and enjoying the Forum. Please encourage them and offer responses where you see they are needed, and we will do as much as we can too.

That way hopefully we will get many more users on the site and there will be steam rising from it thanks to the number of replies you are all posting!!
Also, if you have a specific question you may find you get a repsonse from the Horse Answers section as there is a good response rate there, but bear in mind that these are checked individually by Hattie so it can take 24 hours or so for them to appear.

Take care and hope you continue to enjoy the Forum

Justine (PS I am now your Digital Editor x)

Re: Need to vent? Fire away...

I really like this site and really enjoying coming on here and talking to people. In fact, I think it's quite addictive! I don't keep my pony on a yard with other people so I don't have any help directly at hand. However, I know that I can come on here and will always get advice and tips which I really do appreciate. I've been on the Paddocks once and I think its really quite a bland and boring design. I love Your Horse mag and I love this forum too. In fact, I feel like i've made some friends on here too. I have only been a member for bout a month or so, so didn't know what the old site was like. It's like the new Facebook - the majority hate the new one and I think that's only becoz they were so used to usin the old one. My only point which I'd like to raise is that it would be nice that when you post a topic that it would tell you on your profile that someone has replied to it, rather than you havin to trawl through them to see if they have been replied to, does that make sense? Like what Shellinch said. Apart from that - I love this site! X

Re: Need to vent? Fire away...

Hi Marian!

Thanks for all the positive comments. We do try to make it as easy and user friendly as possible.

In response to your query, our developers are currently working on an e-mail notification setup, where a person can opt in to receive an e-mail whenever someone replies to their topic. It will also hopefully come into effect on the Horse Answers section of the site, where you will recieve an e-mail when someone answers your question.

I hope this helps.

PS: In response to what Kirstyndshaky said earlier about the forum, this is an IE6 issue. If you have IE7 this shouldn't be a problem. It is because the cursor automatically goes straight to the search box at the top of the forum. And if you scroll down below the box before the cursor appears, it will jump back up.

I hope that helps.

Hattie x

Re: Need to vent? Fire away...

ok, so if i wait b4 scrolling it will stop?(sorry, just want to clarify?)I agree with the comparison to facebook!!I only got it 3 weeks ago and cant see the big fuss with the new layout either!!

Hattie, could u make that notification opt in rather than opt out?so it doesnt automatically do it, u have 2 set it?just coz facebook automatically sets u up 4 it and it dus my head in!!!

Re: Need to vent? Fire away...

Absolutely Kirsty.

The notifications are not set in stone as yet and it's still in development. I'll let you all know when it goes live!

And yeah if you pause for a second before scrolling, it won't jump up again.

I hope this helps. Its a solution of sorts.
