Hya I'm just wondering if anyone uses the calmer maxavita maxacalm and if its any good? or if anyone knows anyone who uses it. Its in the winter addition of the robinsons catalogue its a new one. I have used blue chip karma before but its just so expensive its 30 pounds from my local saddlery this one is 20 pounds. it says it contains L-Tryptophan which i dont think is in blue chip karma but excuse me if im wrong.  This L-Tryptophan is supposed to be good in calming stressy horses. I'm just wanting something to help my horse through the fireworks season, he lives out..has to cos he wont be stabled because he hates it he goes nuts. hes been very tetchy and jumpy today even when just tied up and he isnt normally, he usually just stands quiet as a lamb, so i think the fireworks have wound him up. even bangs like car doors shutting are scaring him which they dont normally so im definately blaming the fireworks.

Any feedback about this calmer would be much appreciated, thankyou, nina x

Hi, I haven't used this calmer but my arab used to be really hyper and jumpy. I looked into what feed I was giving him and it turned out it was from the molasses and barley in his horse feed. So switched to Allen & Paige Ride & Relax and also their Fast Fibre (its a hay replacer so don't need chaf) and they said to give it four weeks to see a difference in him but I seen it within two! He would stand still for more than 2 seconds, calm when out on a ride on his own and no more screaming for his friends but still forward going and didn't chase any of the smaller ponies around the field in temper or throw his muck bucket around his stable. Even used to bolt off with me and have no breaks! He made such an improvement, my sister put her horses on it and now all 6 of ours have switched. They get full tummies that they dont go straight to their haynets in the stable after they have been fed, they keep it for later in the night! Haylage was another thing I can't give my arab as it sends him a bit loopy!
