I tried to sneak into Tenor's stable the other afternoon when he was laying down, for a cuddle lol. ( My OH thinks I'm very sad ! ) But alas he got up straight away then I felt guilty about disturbing him. I don't try anymore as he should be left in peace really. Has anyone else sneaked a cuddle ?

As Richard says, there are some lovely photos........

Bracken used to let you make a fuss of her head and neck, but over the past few years I've never come across her lying down - she seems to prefer sleeping on all four feet resting a hoof, at least when I'm there, but she will roll when I'm there.

Grouse also used to lie down and you could start to make a fuss of him, but he'd get up quite quickly.

Several times I came across Monty lying down in his stable while he was in for the lami, and he was very cuddly - he's cuddly anyway - but since he's out again 24 /7 I haven't found him lying down again.

Silv and Benji both do, never caught Bud lying down yet so will have to see. Benj used to lie flat out when I got him a two year old and snore so loud, we had some great bonding times that first summer

I have got close enough to rub her nose when she's lying down in the field, but never attempted to get any closer. I think she'd get up and walk away and I don't want to disturb her because it's not often I see her lying down.

It depends. Most times she lets me sit with her, but sometimes she gets up. When she's really feeling lazy, she'll just refuse to get up even when I try to pull her up :P.. LoL.
The pic I'm attaching is 3 years old, a time she was fat (before I put her on a diet :P), so she was particularely proned to want to just lay there then.

I wish i could with my old boy, but he is too anxious and alert all the time, (he was mistreated when he was younger) whenever i try and sneak up on him he is always standing, though eh does enjoy a good cuddle otherwise. I think he doesn't feel safe if he is on the floor!!

Though, there used to be a 5yo fjord next to him, who we rode, and you could be in there for hours with him, he was so relaxed and laid-back, he would even lie there streched out whilst mucking out (and then flaten all the poo down, to make it even easier!!)

Funny you should post this, because usually Woody won't let anyone near him when he's lying down. Jumps straight up.

But today I went into his stable and he was lying down. Gave him a rub all over, then sat down in front of him and stroked his face until he fell asleep in my lap. Ahh thinking about it gives my heart a wee tug. That's me had him a year on Sunday and he's gone from a nervous wreck to falling asleep in my lap for half an hour!
