Hi

Does anyone know a good instructor in the Lanark area.  I desperately need some  help with Willow.  She is an absolute nightmare at the moment.

She's taken on an "if I don't want to, I won't" attitude.  Her back and saddle have been checked.  Her teeth are due this week, but the problem I'm having is an ongoing one even when everything is fine. 

She just will not go forward from the leg and if I give her a bit of a boot so to speak to try and get her going, she just lifts her head, hollows her back and shuffles forward with her ears back, though she will quite happily go backwards.  I'm actually thinking of trying her with spurs.

She crosses her jaw, has always done this and will avoid work at any opportunity.  She's worse if I use any form of noseband that stops her crossing her jaw.

Any suggestions / name of a good instructor would be greatly appreciated.

I highly recommend Aileen Craig, she's Ayrshire based but she will travel to you.  Although she's obviously more known as a show jumper she can help with all  manner of issues.  Log onto www.aileencraig.com for the contact details, she really helped us out with ours.

 Yeah Aileen Craig is very good.  Ive not personally had any lessons from her but seen her and heard alot of good things about her.  Sheila Thom is also very good.  She is a BHSI.  Ive learnt a hell of alot from her over the years and sat my stages with her.  Im not sure how far she travels tho, shes also ayrshire based.

Thanks for the info.  I will get in touch with Aileen.

We had a heck of a session last night.  One of the others lasses at the yard rode Willow for me and ended up putting draw reins on her.  Well! what a temper tantrum she had.  She went backwards, sideways, and even upwards (only once though).  She got ridden through it and it was nice to see that she will work.  That at least has given me a  positive feeling.

Aileen is fab, she is so down to earth and she makes you feel at ease straight away, she's a lovely person and her lessons are amazing - good luck.
