Re: advice I am going to my first jumping comp

thank you its at a riding school and i dont think i have any sort of jacket( i might look out of place because all my friends have fancy new ones! and i saw last years photos and everyone was wearing really pretty  ones) but i will look! the warm up arena is the sand school which he is quite calm. there is one fence i am worried about is the picket fence because he takes off too early which unseats me! but i think i will practise the fence before!

Don't worry if you don't have a show jacket, you could always ride in just a shirt and tie or a dark coloured jumper. Try not to stress too much while you are there and try to enjoy it. I tend to only jump a couple of times before entering the ring, and some transition work. As long as you stay calm and confident, look past the jump and ride into it, then you should be fine.

Good Luck with your show, probably the first of many others this summer

Attached are pics of my first show in 2009 with my pony, since then he jumps really well at that venue, as I stayed as calm as i could (won pre-novice, 8th in novice)
