If the base of his ears feel warm, and he's warm underneath his rug I wouldn't worry.

ps: he's a handsome chappy :)

Hi Linnyarm, my horse is out on his hols and he has two turnout rugs on. Maybe you could put a wee fleece under your boy's rug, just in case he feels the chill tonight? It is to go down to between -5 and -12 in NI!

Yea, pop the cooler on, its better for him to be warm rather than cold! My mare who lives out has two turnout rugs on, and a fleecey rug on underneath. She is around 20, and she feels the cold. I hope she dosen't lose weight like she did last year! We had to feed her build up mix!

1 main stable rug, 1 cooler, 1 turnout rug and the horse stabled, she is an ex-racehorse welfare rescue looses condition just by turning your back, careful monitoring, removed when too hot earlier in the week, must on no account sweat then get cold and a chill. What a difference to looking after a cob for 21 years, who had to be clipped this new horse's coat is so thin not able to clip but this could be due to her condition when I had her in July and now better feed and TLC coat next year could be better, but not holding breath as ex-racehorse Chesnut Mare and I know from others how delicate they can be.

Gypsy Gold does not chink & glitter. It gleams in the sun and neighs in the dark.Tonka & Lara my beautiful horses RIP, Nelson & Chloe the cats.
