i originally bought Loki last year to break him on and sell him this year. however he needed a lot of work done and i slowly broke him at his own pace (and mine - considering i'd never done it before) and he can now be ridden in walk, trot and canter, hacks alone and in company and is quite safe while being ridden. he'll walk past cars, tractors, sheep, cows & barking dogs (also other ponies when he's with Minty on a hack) and could be sold as a hacking pony at the moment. he needs a bit of schooling work, hopefully i'll have an arena built by next summer. i've popped him over a few crosspoles on the lunge and he LOVES it, he gets very excited. as a 2yr old he jumped a 7bar field gate from a standstill and has jumped the fence a few times again to get out the field to the one next door, so i think he'll make a fantastic jumping pony! i plan to compete him next year doing some in-hand showing and taking it from there, just getting him used to being out & about with other horses. it's good that he's stuck to Minty like a limpet as these sort of situations don't phase Minty at all therefore Loki can follow example.
so if i was to sell him, how much would you be willing to pay for him? ideally i'd like minimum £2000, fjords are hard to get, even more so in scotland (in the 3 years i've been interested in them i've only ever seen 2 for sale in scotland - and i bought them both!!) but i think £2500 is a nice price as a 4yr old. what do you all think?
Norwegian Fjords - the golden horses with the golden hearts.
Minty, Loki, Teiko, Willow, Cherry & Charlie - my lovely ponies :)
