To say you would sell the horse becaue you cant catch it, seems madness. If it bucked you off everytime you rode or kicked you in the stable each night, then I would recommend you did. Yes, get everything checked out, i.e teeth, back and tack, just in case he sees being caught means being ridden and, that could incur pain. It sounds to me that he is just being a naughty twat. Some horses are buggers to catch. I woudnt mess around, I would use electric fencing, electrify it with a battery/energiser and have the horse in a small area. You can always move it when the grass gets eaten down. Then the horse doesnt have room to run off. Then you can practise catching him. Different things work for different horses, some with food. I was once told that if you have a horse thats difficult to catch, put them in a small area, then every day go in, catch them, take them out, release them, catch them, take them out, take them back in, just repeat it over and over again, even if you do it 100 times in one day.
