Well I had an eventful evening as someone had put a load of mares and foals ain the field next door to ours yesterday and Coco went completely mad, him and his old age field buddy flew at the little welshie and chased him around the field really aggressivley. We have been putting Coco and the OAP in the bottom field during the day but Friankie the welshie is too fat to go in there as he would be at risk of laminitus. They've only been going in the bottom field for a week and back out at night into the top field with Frankie to give their belly's a rest from the rish grass. I don't know why they did it but they were so aggressive to Frankie, got themselves wound up into a right state sweating after charging around and when I went back later on in the night peace had been restored but Frankie was stille victed from their little twosome herd.
Well I went down at 6am this morning and Coco is now reall lame on his near fore. he is a very unhappy uncomfortable boy, whinnied when I got there and was just stuck to me like he wanted me to make it better. I cant find any heat or swelling, but I cold hosed it for half an hour anyway. He doesn;t want to pick his leg up and bend at the fetlock, but appears ok having his leg pulled out the front and bending his knee so I think he's done something to his fetlock joint or pastern.
I'm so scared that he's done something serious and we will be looking at a long period of box rest or worse. Last tiem he strained a tendon he was soooo, miserable on box rest. Typical as he was doign so well and was nice and fit at the moment! Anyway I have the vet coming at 11am, so please send me lots of positive vibes and good luck!!!
