God I am dumb sometimes (and sick of saddles) I have Willows old leather saddle (that never fit him) on ebay - how do I measure the width. *wanders off in search of 'tack, for Dummies'*

Hi CJ! Every time I see a saddle on eBay the width is given between the D rings, which you can do presumably with a tape measure? [:)]

as racaille says the ebay way of doing it seems to be d ring to d ring. do you still have the wintec measure? that will tell you narrow/medium etc.

I thought it was...its only coz I bought Willows pony saddle and that was advertised as 9" btw the D's but I measure it and can only seem to get about 7 1/2-8" so thought I better check! Wintec gauge on the way...

OK I gonna put me Barnsby on ebay - its 8-81/2 between the D's = is this medium, narrow, or wide?!!!??? (god you can tell I have always just had a fitter out cant you!) and PS Maxie - I cant seem to get on MSN - is it MSN messenger?

medium to wide? see max is wide according to the wintec gauge and he has 8 1/2" between the d's. its so hard to tell as horses are such different shapes. whats it like?

how much? as well as me there is another girl looking for a saddle at the yard so if we sent templates would you try them? I know its only approximate but if it dont fit can always sell again.

sure I will try - I have no idea how much, thats the problem! I have a saddle fitter coming out tomorrow - she coudl probably tell me what its worth.. I am guessing in the region of £250-£300, but feel free to tell me if I am wrong!?
