The owner of my first yard rode till she was 8 months pregnant!! Take it easy, if you get uneasy get off. You know your horse and your own body better than anyone, so only you can make this decision. xxx

I think the other replies say everything about you knowing your body best that needs to be said but just to bolster the positive feedback here: I rode through my two pregnancies until about 2 weeks before the due date. I trotted and cantered until 7 months gone, then walked and trotted a little for the next month and after that just took nice slow walks. I am, however, a very fit rider who trains horses and I took a masterclass  in rolling off during my training, so I was very aware of my changing body all the time. You need to take your changing fitness level and most importantly your changing balance into account.  Pregnancy will change your centre of gravity and if at any point you start feeling unbalanced, no matter how safe your horse, I would suggest you get off. Also, although I normally hack out very happily on my own, during my pregnancies I made sure I was never out alone and during the last trimester I stuck to riding in the school, even then making sure that somebody was around who could call an ambulance, just in case. My doctor, who I spoke to beforehand, reassured me that riding itself - no matter what gear - is definitely not a problem, the danger lies in coming off and even more so (the doctor's words)  in getting kicked or squished. For me that meant that during my pregnancies I let other people pick out the hoves of my more fidgety charges and made extra specially sure that complacency didn't land me in the "kick zone".  I wish you all the very best with your pregnancy!

This is a personal decision, one that shouldn't be swayed by the opinions of others.

If you feel you can still ride then go for it.

If you dont want to take the risk then dont.

I wish you and baby the very best during this happy time, but please be safe!!!!

My cousin's waters broke while out hacking this was with her second child we were 42km away from home at the time so you can imagin what speed we were doing getting home (not walking i can tell you) luckly she had the brains to leave the untacking to me and by the time i got both horses untacked and out in field and went indoors she had it (a little girl 7.5 LB she never had big babys)

She was only a couple of days early.

She rode though all her pregnacys she was even competing in Endurnace rides (upto 80km Endurance races) until she was 7months good job we wear riding tights and not jods ha ha

Mind you out of her four children only one was born in hospital her first was born in her husbands rugby teams medical room (her waters broke while at a match and before she could get to hospital he wanted to come out, her second was born at home, Just it was looking like a fiel baby, third again was born at home but this was a few hours after she rode and her 4th was only born in hospital as she was visiting me when i fractured my pelvis and she went into labour

Boyfriends come and go but my Arabs are for life

Sorry to be the one thats down about it but...... my friend still rode her horse during her pregnancy as she had the horse for 12years... safe little horse.  She was in grooming her one day when another horse got loose and ran past her stable.... her horse spooked and crushed her againest the wall.  Unfortunalty and very sadly she lost baby!

Horses are dangerous no matter how much my know our own horse.... accidents happen.

Please please be very careful and don be selfish just because you want to ride....
